It has been a few years since we have had this opportunity. We were able to connect with quite a few families who have not heard of AHF as well as connect with past supporters to talk through the latest updates.
We are blessed to continue to hire 6-7 nannies for 17 more years, through the year 2041.

Like we are seeing in the US, the cost of everything is going up in Ethiopia.  There is a need for additional funds in order to continue the level of support from AHF.  However, due to AHF being in good standing, there is also the opportunity to expand the outlay of funds to hire additional nannies.  With all that, AHF will now be funding at a higher level and expanding the nannies hired from 5 to 6-7. 

With the additional nannies hired, there is enough to continue hiring 6-7 nannies for 17 more years, through the year 2041!!]]><![CDATA[AHF Support through conflict]]>Thu, 13 Jan 2022 08:00:00 GMThttps://www.abenezershopefund.org/blog/ahf-support-through-conflictThis year has been a very difficult one for the country of Ethiopia.  The conflict in the country is taking a toll.  The good news is that our partner, America World Adoption Agency, was able to make 3 trips during 2021, despite the issues.  They have confirmed the current government support for the program we have set up to hire Nannies for the Kebe Orphanage.  That is amazing news.  Unfortunately, pictures were not allowed to be taken on those trips, but overall it was great news that we are able to continue to support the local nationals and the children.  Thank you all for your support through 2021 and we can pray for this initiative and Ethiopia as a country through 2022.  

​The great news is the fund is very healthy thanks to your contributions and God’s provision.  At this point, there is enough to continue the current level of 5 nannies through the year 2047.

It has been a while since we have posted and a lot has transpired. Over the last year or so, there have been some large bumps in the road for AHF. There were issues both with the Ethiopian government as well as the US government which put the ability to hire nannies in jeopardy. However, after the dust has settled, God is always good. The relationship AHF has with America World Adoption Agency is strong and the mission of this fund will continue. In fact, the nannies will now be hired by America World to support the current staff at Kebebe. Also, AHF is able to fund the hiring up 5 nannies now!! As this arrangement settles, we will continue to partner with America World and look to hire additional nannies in the future as the fund is strong. At its current level, AHF will be able to fund 5 nannies through the year 2045!! We are very thankful for all your contributions.
Lastly, we were able to hold a booth at the East White Oak Bible Church mission’s fair again this year as denoted in the picture. We have been able to participate in the fair for many years in a row now and appreciate the partnership with EWO.

There is enough funds in AHF to continue to employ 3 nannies through the year 2045. God continues to bless this ministry as the amount of money coming in outpaces the money being sent to employ the nannies. In fact, we have recently asked about expanding the ministry due to the healthy funding level.
2018 has been a wild ride for adoptions in Ethiopia. As many of you know over the last several years, adoptions have been continually restricted. Unfortunately, Ethiopia is now a closed country for US Adoptions. The adoption agency (America World) we partner with in order to make the logistics happen has taken several trips this past year to help determine the lay of the land and future opportunities. There is a great need and desire to continue to serve the orphan population and local nationals through AHF and as mentioned above, we continue to discuss expanding ministry opportunities.

Everyone has been very generous this year. Currently, AHF is funding 3 nannies to work in the baby room at Kebebe Tsehay Orphanage in Ethiopia. Due to the generous giving of supporters, AHF has enough to continue to hire 3 nannies through the year 2038, which is an increase of 5 years!! Thank you to all who seeing the need to care for the fatherless. Aberash Zewge and Debrework Afework both work at Kebebe Tsehay Orphanage in Ethiopia. They answered a few questions for us and they are posted below.
What does a typical work day look like and what activities do you perform?
-Feeding children, changing diapers, changing clothes, caring for the little ones, putting them to bed, and playing with children.
What is the most challenging part of your job?
-"Bathing the special needs children is the most challenging work as the children can't control themselves, so it's difficult to wash them"
-"When I see babies get sick and specifically when the little ones deceased, I really get that as a big challenge."
What is the favorite part of your job?
-"Feeding the children. I work with special needs children and when I see them finish his/her portion of food, it makes me so happy."
-Feeding bottle for the infant babies is the favorite part of my job."

Currently, AHF is funding three nannies to work at the Kebebe Tsehay Orphanage in Ethiopia. Due to the generous giving of supporters, AHF has enough money to continue to hire three nannies through the year 2033!!
It continues to be amazing to see what God is doing through generous and caring people to meet the needs of orphans in Ethiopia as well as provide jobs for local nationals. Thank you all who are donating and please keep AHF in your prayers this Christmas season to see what God has in the works.]]>
